Job Purpose

The product manager is a career opportunity that will build on the company’s initial product offering and be responsible for product viability, financial performance, competitiveness, and positioning. This position owns product health and drives activity as needed to achieve strategic, business, and customer goals. The product manager is responsible for cultivating a healthy product culture and establishing critical links with marketing, engineering, operations, and sales. The successful candidate is an experienced business builder who thrives on working cross-functionally to deliver a significant impact and drive business volume with the visibility and influence that the impact suggests.

Position Description

Including but not limited to:

Product Management Role

  • Create and maintain a product roadmap that anticipates future needs and competitive alternatives
  • Establish a go-to-market plan, including ROI analyses and establishing time schedules with operations/engineering
  • Work with sales to develop and implement strategies to achieve market share/revenue targets
  • Understand customer needs and the forces which shape them over time as well as the competitive landscape and directions expected from competitors
  • Manage product lifecycle process, including strategy development, market research, roadmap development, product planning, go-to-market, and market maintenance and growth
  • Provide insight for marketing communications and provide product marketing communication objectives
  • Manage beta programs and product launches
  • Facilitate customer advisory groups
  • Work with sales and marketing to plan and create exciting partner events and to leverage partners, creating awareness and sales leads
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge, establish personal networks, and participate in professional societies

Product Owner Role

  • Responsible for maximizing the value of the product and the work of the development team
  • Manage the feature backlog, including coordinating priority setting and timing
  • Interface with the development team to provide clarity around the backlog items
  • Ensure that the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all and leads in the development of the backlog schedule

Candidate Profile

Background requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role with demonstrated accomplishment
  • Proven experience bringing products to market and managing their growth
  • Contacts in the region that can accelerate time-to-revenue for the company
  • Technical educational background (BS in Engineering or similar field preferred, MBA a plus but not required)
  • Experience in the Hospitality, Building Management, or Energy Management industries a plus
  • Experience working with remote development teams and management
  • Experience with SaaS products
  • Experience with Agile development (Scrum, Sprints, etc.)
  • Experience with strategic thinking and planning
  • Accomplishment in prioritizing diverse objectives
  • Understanding of cloud technology, managed services, and IT functions generally

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Superior listening & interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and motivate others and manage conflict

  • Demonstrated ability to work with sales, marketing, and operations/engineering
  • Ability to create business case models
  • Must be a collaborative team player with ability to set goals and achieve them with minimal direction
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, work outside normal business hours as needed, and work a flexible schedule

Location & Benefits

  • This role requires some travel to customers and to the West Chester, PA office

Working Conditions

  • This salaried position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Field Engineers must have a valid driver’s license and a current passport.
  • Regular travel with equipment requires frequent lifting of bags that weigh up to 50lbs.
